Or maybe you don’t like fresh tomatoes or snap peas…

But seeing as we’ve known each other for awhile now, I thought you’d looovvvee these. Enjoy!

You may have noticed a surprising lack of posts lately.
Sorry.
I’ve been here.

This past week our family took our annual summer vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
Yes, I’m relaxed. I’m kinda tan. But, mostly, I’m full.
Not kidding you, I gained four pounds, and it was worth it.

I ate blue crab, clams and shrimp dipped into melted golden butter. And, salty, boiled peanuts that would win over any Southerners heart. But I think my favorite meal was the grilled steak and peppers shish kabobs with fresh corn on the cob.
Un-real.
I’ll be trying to cleanse my system over the next few days so look forward to some healthy recipes as I try to get the butter out of my system. If you have any suggestions send them my way!

I’m trying a little garden experiment. Pink AND yellow Potatoes. How cool is this?!

I bought the starts at Home Depot, but apparently they’re originally grown in the Valley. They come in yellow, pink and purple. I can’t wait to see how they turn out!

Slowing Down… For a Moment

I could feel my black pants warming in the sun as I sat on the old courthouse steps in downtown Anchorage.
I watched as people hurried down the street searching for a lunch before heading back to work.
I decided to keep it simple, ordering a hot dog from one of the vendors downtown.
They seem to be as prolific as the yellow and purple flowers that dangle from the street lights.

I bit into the hot dog, that moments ago had been sitting on a fiery grill.

The hot dog was overloaded with layers of crisp sauerkraut, cheese and onions sauteed in Coca-Cola.
I licked the spicy mustard from my lips.
It only took a few minutes to finish eating, but I as I sat there I couldn’t help but wished this moment, and summer, would last a little longer.
